Found this in a notebook.

After our wedding, some people asked for the full text of the marriage equality speech I read during the ceremony. So here it is.

“We stand here today with the help and support of our loved ones and friends who have guided us to this point in our relationship. Words can’t describe how much that support means to us. We are always grateful to have such exceptional people as part of our lives, helping us grow to be better individuals, and our relationship grow to be a stronger marriage.

“Today we exercise a right that is too rare in this country. Our love is strong and deep, but it is not more worthy, or more sacred, or any different at all from other loves that flourish in our nation, thrive in our state, and bloom here in this field. Even as we celebrate our relationship today, we acknowledge that the rights we enjoy are denied to others, for unjust reasons.

“We will never forget the support we reeive from our loved ones and friends as we gather today to recognize our love as a marriage. We hasten the day when we can give back, to all loves, a support and a recognition that are truly EQUAL.”

I’m glad I found this little book of vows and speeches; I thought it was gone for good.
